Mayor Wheeler declared a State of Emergency due to the Camp Creek Fire on Sunday, August 27, 2023. The Emergency Declaration went into effect at 6:00 p.m.

The Camp Creek Fire was started by a lightning strike around 10:30 p.m. on August 24, 2023 in the Bull Run Watershed. The fire burned over 1,000 acres as of Sunday night.

The Portland Water Bureau (PWB) continues to monitor water quality and has yet to see any fire-related impacts. Critical city infrastructure remains at risk, however, as weather conditions can change quickly.
