Mayor Wheeler Pens Letter to Council Colleagues, Holds Work Session on Charter Transition

"This transition is not about us, this is about the community. Portlanders gave us a clear directive when they overwhelmingly voted to approve changes to our City Charter in November of last year. We have an obligation to implement these changes by January 1, 2025, and hope that the elected offices can lead by example in this change management process and do what is necessary to adequately pressure test the new structure prior to the start date." -Mayor Ted Wheeler


As the City of Portland continues working to implement voter-approved Charter transition changes, Mayor Ted Wheeler released a letter to his colleagues on the City Council outlining key decision points. You can view the letter sent September 26, 2023 here:
