Portland to celebrate 24-Hour Louie Louie Marathon

On Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7 and 8, 2023, Portland will celebrate local band, The Kingsmen, and the 60th anniversary of their recording and release of the hit song "Louie Louie".

The community-building event will feature live opening and closing performances of "Louie Louie" by The Kingsmen with over 75 live acts from Portland's creative community of artists, musicians, and performers in between. As one band finishes their version of "Louie Louie", another one starts to play theirs in what will be a 24-hour continuum of the world-famous song.
 

Mayor Wheeler has proclaimed October 7-8, 2023 to be "24-Hour Louie Louie Marathon Day-Day."
