"I wanted to take a moment to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. I hope you get to spend time with your loved ones, enjoy a meal together, and maybe catch a football game. This is a time to relax, unwind, and reflect on what brings us all together.

It’s been a tough year for Portland, and I hope you can take some time to reflect on the things that you’re thankful for this holiday season.

November is Native American Heritage month.

During this time of gathering and celebration, we also must seek to understand how our history played a role in creating inequities, learn from history and work together to repair past harms.

Last week, I participated in the Tribal Nations Summit, where tribal delegates and City leadership joined together to engage in relationship building and with the desire to increase opportunities for collaboration with tribal nations.

I am thankful for the opportunity to come together and look forward to seeing our partnerships grow deeper.

And Portland - I am thankful for you, and for everything our great city has in store for us. The future is bright. Happy Thanksgiving," -Mayor Wheeler
