In Portland’s form of government, City Council members are directly responsible for portions of the City’s work. Each Council member has a portfolio of bureaus they directly oversee and groups they are the official City Council liaison to.
Part of Mayor Wheeler’s responsibility as Mayor is to assign City bureaus and liaison responsibilities to City Council members.
On December 23, 2020, Mayor Wheeler announced Portland City Council members’ bureau and liaison responsibility assignments.
Earlier this week, on January 12, 2021, Mayor Wheeler provided his colleagues with follow-up memos outlining, for each Council member’s portfolio, priority work he is asking the Commissioner to continue.
