Portland Police Manage Protest Without Using Gas

Press release

Other agencies not subject to Mayor’s order

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler confirmed today that Portland Police abided by his order banning the use of tear gas for crowd control during a protest Friday night in the South Waterfront neighborhood.

“The Portland Police complied with the ban on tear gas while still providing mutual aid,” Wheeler said. “I call on everyone in our community to step up and end the violence and to focus on advancing racial justice,” he said.
