OVP Director, Nike Greene Addresses the Public Health Problem of Gun Violence

OHSU-PSU School of Public Health hosted an event on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at 6:30 PM titled, "Gun Violence in Oregon: Addressing a Public Health Problem with Public Health Approaches." Director Nike Greene from The Office of Violence Prevention (OVP) a leading expert on gun violence in Portland, OR was a panelist for this discussion. She addressed the rise in gun violence in Portland, OR and its disproportionate impact on Black community members. Director Greene also discussed the Cure Violence model and various OVP community-led efforts and programs to reduce gun violence and recidivism such as Healing Hurt People, Trauma and Violence Impacted Families, and the Portland Restoration Academy.
