Annual Juneteenth Independence Day Celebration

The City will be commemorating Juneteenth with its annual Juneteenth Independence Day Celebration. Juneteenth is the oldest celebrated commemoration for the ending of slavery in the United States. The event will begin with a parade titled “The Clara Peoples Freedom Trail Parade” and continue with a variety of festivities.

The Mayor will share a few words on Juneteenth and present a proclamation at around 12:00 p.m.

WHEN: 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., June 15th 2019

WHERE: Parade begins at 11:00 a.m. on MLK/Ainsworth. Festival portion starts at 12:00 p.m. at Legacy Emanuel Hospital and ends at 7:00 p.m.
