Last week was Fleet Week and did you know that the City of Portland has been celebrating Fleet Week for over a century?
This year was particularly special because the Rose Festival Fleet Committee organized a brand-new event, that profiled military chefs from five fleets and paired them with five local restaurant chefs. Each team was responsible for making street tacos using ingredients found on aircraft carriers and in the end the crowd voted for their favorite tacos.
The friendly competition was dubbed: The Galley Wars
Everyone did an outstanding job and the tacos were delicious! It was a great way to celebrate the culinary talents of our armed forces as well as our world-renowned chefs.
