Mayor Wheeler Joins Youth Climate Activists at Lownsdale Square
Mayor Ted Wheeler will be joining Portland youth activists to support them in their fight in tackling climate change. He will be among those speaking today at Lownsdale Square at a press conference hosted by Youth Rising for Environmental Action, Future Coalition, and Our Children’s Trust. Organizers say the press conference is one of nearly 100 coordinated press conferences being held across the country and the world. This comes just days before an appellate court hearing in the landmark constitutional youth climate lawsuit Juliana v. United States.
Today, you will also be hearing from one of the youth plaintiffs, Mayor Mark Gamba of Milwaukie, and other youth activists.
