Portland Water Bureau’s Sponsorship Program

Information
Portland Water employees pass out reusable water bottles from a bureau vehicle at Good in the Hood Festival.
We partner with community organizations so they can strengthen their own fundraising activities, events, and community engagement.

Overview

As part of our Strategic Plan, we want to build relationships and better engage with underserved and underrepresented communities. Our sponsorship program aims to:

  • Strengthen ties with Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander, and Multiracial communities, as well as groups that support low-income individuals and people with disabilities.
  • Provide more learning opportunities in communities about the quality of drinking water, lead testing, financial help, water conservation, protecting resources, and more.
  • Improve our understanding of what communities need and their concerns.
  • Support organizations that share our values and mission of serving excellent water every minute of every day and help them make a bigger impact.

Who can apply for a sponsorship?

We prioritize 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) organizations whose work and mission intersect with our bureau's values while also directly relating to drinking water quality, affordability, water conservation, work force development, and resource protection. We give preference to requests that provide opportunities for bureau promotion and education, raise awareness of our role in the community, and contribute meaningfully to the organization. Eligible activities include community events, activities, fundraisers, conferences, and community engagement.

We will not consider requests for:

  • Individuals
  • Projects primarily seeking to influence elections or legislation
  • Organizations without qualified tax status designation or for-profit organizations acting as non-profit organizations

Some events we’ve sponsored include Good in the Hood Festival, home fairs, career expos, and financial assistance workshops.

Businesses and for-profit organizations that are interested in marketing and promotional partnerships can email hellowater@portlandoregon.gov
