The Water Bureau replaced original 1894 reservoirs with a new 12.4-million-gallon, seismically reinforced underground reservoir. The Washington Park Reservoir supplies water to Portland’s west side.

Portland Water Bureau opens the Washington Park Reservoir to the public after a yearlong delay

The Washington Park Reservoir, a seismically resilient underground reservoir, has been serving Portland's west side since 2021. The area on top of the reservoir is now home to a public space for the entire community to enjoy.
