Portland is planning a new filtration facility to keep our water safe and abundant for generations to come. The new filtration facility will remove the microorganism Cryptosporidium and must be completed by 2027 to comply with state and federal water quality rules.

The improved treatment facilities were completed in April 2022 to help make water from the Bull Run less corrosive to lead and other metals found in some home and building plumbing.

The City of Portland has committed $4 million for maintenance, repair, and preservation work at the Mount Tabor Reservoirs. While the three open reservoirs at Mount Tabor no longer supply drinking water, they continue to be important assets to the City of Portland.
