North Jantzen Avenue water main construction

We will replace approximately 2,200 feet of water main (pipe) with earthquake-resilient pipe. We will also replace five existing fire hydrants and install one new fire hydrant. This project will bring existing water services and backflow devices at several properties up to current City code.

Hypochlorite Building upgrade at Washington Park Reservoir

The Water Bureau upgraded the Hypochlorite Building at Washington Park Reservoir. Aside from exterior doors, upgrades will happen inside the building. Built in 1981, this simple structure fulfills another critical role: allowing us to serve clean and safe water to the west side of Portland.

Replacing the motor control centers at the Barbur Gibbs Pump Station

The Water Bureau is replacing three motor control centers in the Barbur Gibbs pump station. The motor control centers were installed in the 1960s and have reached the end of their useful life. The motor control center encases the electrical starters that control, monitor and protect the pump motors.

Powell Butte Reservoir 1 Roof Repair

The two reservoirs at Powell Butte fuel our region with safe and abundant water. In 2021 and 2022, the Water Bureau repaired the roof of Reservoir 1. We installed a better drainage system on the reservoir's roof and restored the site.

Fulton Park Boulevard water main construction

Southwest Troy Street water main replacement

The Water Bureau has replaced 931 feet of water main (pipe) on Southwest Troy Street between Southwest 25th Avenue to Southwest 28th Avenue.

South Harbor Way water main replacement

The Water Bureau has replaced a water main (pipe) and installed two new water valves. The new valves mean that when we need to do repairs, we can close off a smaller part of the system, reducing the number of people impacted.

Portland Heights pump replacement

The Water Bureau will replace a pump at the Portland Heights Pump Station. Inspections show that the pump’s motor, installed nearly 30 years ago, is declining and needs to be replaced. Replacing this pump will provide the area with a more reliable water supply now and into the future.

Mount Tabor Reservoirs Historic Fencing Repair

The Water Bureau hired a skilled blacksmith to repair the historic ironwork fencing around Reservoirs 5 and 6. The blacksmith restored wrought iron fence, tapered tower light posts, and decorative scroll work.

SE Holgate Bridge Main Rehabilitation at I-205

The Water Bureau repaired a water main (pipe) on Southeast Holgate Boulevard where it crosses the Interstate 205 freeway. To access the water pipe, crews narrowed the eastbound traffic lane on Holgate.

Roselawn Bundle Water Main Replacement

The Water Bureau replaced 4,001 feet (nearly a mile) of Cully neighborhood water pipes with more earthquake-resistant pipes.

NE 143rd and Sacramento Water Main Replacement

The Water Bureau replaced 960 feet of an aging water main (pipe), installed three new hydrants, replaced one existing hydrant, and renewed sixteen service connections.

SE Lambert and 19th Main Replacement

The Water Bureau has invested in Sellwood and replaced 4,800 feet—just under a mile—of an aging water main (pipe) along SE Lambert and 19th Ave. The previous main was installed in 1927 and had multiple breaks. This new pipe will make your water service more reliable and improve water quality.

The Water Bureau has replaced original 1894 reservoirs with a new 12.4-million-gallon, seismically reinforced underground reservoir.

Penridge Water Mains Replacement

The Portland Water Bureau replaced the water mains (pipes) serving NW Penridge, Skyline Crest, and Greenleaf Roads in 2023. Larger pipes increase water flow to homes and hydrants.

Gresham trestle upgrades

We have strengthened the structural supports (known as trestles) that hold a water pipe near Kelly Creek and Beaver Creek in Gresham. This project is part of our commitment to preparedness and our mission of serving excellent water every minute of every day.
