About water quality updates

We want to keep you informed about our drinking water. Sign up to get updates by email or text for any of the following drinking water quality topics:

• Changes to water sources or treatment levels
• Cryptosporidium detections
• Supplemental drinking water quality data are released
• Annual drinking water quality report is released

We do not use these lists to send information about localized, temporary events such as main breaks or discolored water.

Changes to water sources or treatment levels

Some businesses, medical clinics, food and beverage production facilities, individuals and hobbyists need to know when we plan to make changes to our drinking water treatment or switch between water sources.

Sign up to get an email when:

• there are changes in the drinking water source (Bull Run water or groundwater)
• significant adjustments are made to water treatment, such as pH or chlorine
• there may be a known systemwide issue that impacts you

You will typically get 6 to 12 water quality notices per year.

Report discolored water

Cryptosporidium detections

We'll have a new water treatment facility in 2029 that will treat for Cryptosporidium. While the Bull Run Filtration facility is constructed, we are committed to communicating about Cryptosporidium detections with medical providers and our community. This email notification system is an easy way for you to find out quickly when we detect Cryptosporidium.

The number of Cryptosporidium notices you will get varies. At minimum, you will get one notice every three months. During the rainy season, getting up to one notice per week is common.

Supplemental drinking water quality data released

Three times per year, we release supplemental water quality data. These reports provide additional drinking water quality results for customers who need data beyond what is included in our annual water quality report.
