Portland-area residents

We offer free lead-in-water testing to Portland residents and residents in the service area of some surrounding water providers. The test kit includes instructions, sample bottles, a postage-paid return envelope, and an information card for you to fill out and return with the water sample. Fill out the form below to order a kit.

Portland provides free lead-in-water testing for residents in the service areas of the following water providers:

Childcare facilities in Portland

We provide free lead testing for licensed in-home and center-based childcare providers in the Portland Water Bureau service area. Childcare providers can order free lead-in-water testing online or by calling 503-823-7525. Our lead testing program meets the requirements for state-mandated testing. You may also choose to pay a private laboratory to test your water, Oregon Health Authority provides a list of labs you can choose from.

Water testing information

You are required to test all water faucets used for drinking water, cooking, preparing food or infant formula. In the fields below, fill in the number of drinking water faucets you will be testing at your facility so that we can send you the right number of sample bottles.

Reminder: Bathroom/handwashing sinks should not be used as a drinking water source for children. Do not test from the bathroom or handwashing sink unless your licensing agency specifically tells you to.
