The City of Portland’s Spectator Venues program has released its fiscal year 2020-2021 annual report. As Portlanders and the world grappled with a historic global pandemic and continued civil unrest, the City’s premiere sporting and performing arts venues were sidelined due to sustained venue closures.

Fiscal Year 2020-2021 was a challenging year for the program, the venue operators, and the thousands of Portland workers employed in the event, travel and tourism industries. Despite these circumstances, the Spectator Venues Program pushed forward with major improvements and upgrades including a new state-of-the-art sound system for the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall and a partial rebuild of the Veterans Memorial Coliseum’s HVAC system.

The report details major projects completed and underway at the venues, as well as current and ongoing challenges.
