Accessibility at Spectator Venues

Information
ADA
Every individual should be able to enjoy entertainment at Portland venues. To make sure that’s possible, the City’s Spectator Venues Program is committed to ensuring that theater, sports and cultural venues meet modern accessibility standards.

The Spectator Venues Program works closely with the Office of Equity and Human Rights to track and report on Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance. Many venues need ADA upgrades, which require additional funding.

Spectator Venues eliminated 486 barriers to accessibility between 2019 and 2020, and upgraded Rose Quarter facilities to include compliant hand railings, accessible stairs and enhanced signage.

It is also important to make venues financially accessible, as they regularly host community events at reduced costs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Veterans Memorial Coliseum hosted several community blood donation drives and served as a site for donated meal assembly for families in need. Additionally, the Stadium hosted many local graduations in a COVID-safe outdoor location.
