About the Urban Forestry Commission

Eleven volunteer advocates for the urban forest, advancing the public conversation and advising the City of Portland.

Created by Title 11 Trees, the Urban Forestry Commission (UFC) is comprised of 11 community members who volunteer their time. They advise the City Forester, Parks Director, Commissioner in Charge of Parks, and City Council.

The UFC advises on matters pertaining to trees such as:

  • Regulations
  • Budget
  • Policies
  • Plans

The UFC also acts as an appeals board for certain tree permits, nominates new and approves removal of Heritage Trees, and plays a significant role in updates to the City’s Urban Forest Management Plan.

Meeting Schedule

The UFC meets on the third Thursday of each month at 9:30 am.

Providing Public Comment

All monthly meetings of the Urban Forestry Commission are open to the public and community involvement is encouraged. The first five minutes of meeting are typically reserved for public comments. Please check the meeting agenda ahead of time to confirm if time allows for public comments
