Join Portland Parks & Recreation Urban Forestry to bring more trees to the Hazelwood and Mill Park neighborhoods.
The many beneficial services of trees

- Calm traffic and make our streets safer for everyone
- Improve public health
- Lower stress levels
- Reduce noise pollution
- Create homes for birds, bugs, and other animals
- Create a place for play, rest, and celebration
Why focus on Hazelwood and Mill Park?
Through Spring 2021 Urban Forestry is bringing trees and opportunities to learn about trees to the Hazelwood and Mill Park neighborhoods. These neighborhoods are in close proximity to Interstates 205 and 84 and more trees means cleaner air for community members. In 2017, PP&R Urban Forestry partnered with Portland State University to find out where community members would like to see trees. In general, we found that people would like to see trees where there aren’t any and that neighborhoods east of 82nd Avenue have less tree canopy than neighborhoods to the west. You can learn more about that study at the Tree Planting Stragegy document below:
