Native to Europe, northern Africa, and southwest Asia.
Height can exceed 100’. Age can exceed 1,500 years.
Needles are short (<1.5”) and dark green, flat on branch.
Females produce bright red berries in fall.
Often found in cemeteries.
Fairly common in Portland, usually as shrubs.
