- Native to southeast U.S.
- Height can reach 160’ in native habitat.
- Leaves resemble willow leaves and are up to 7”.
- Acorns are 1.5” long, squat, round; cap covers the top one-third.
- Fall foliage is yellow.
- Rare in Portland.
