Join Urban Forestry and on April 11th from 9-noon at Mt. Scott Community Center for Tree Summit 2026 to hear a presentation from environmental engineer, J'reyesha Brannon.

This year's event features environmental engineer, J'reyesha Brannon, who will speak about the impact of climate change and rising temperatures on the lives of people living in low-canopy areas.
Through her Canopy of Stories Project, J'reyesha pairs community stories and heat data, to visually demonstrate how climate change impacts Black, Indigneous, and People of Color communities in Multnomah County.
The collection of community stories creates a fuller picture of the impact of climate change and rising temperatures on the lives of people living in areas with lower tree canopy. This project is a powerful example of frontline communities using data as a tool to influence policy.
J'reyesha Brannon is a civil/environmental engineer based in Portland, Oregon, with a passion for environmental justice, civic engagement, and diversifying STEM fields. In addition to the Canopy of Stories project, she has also created Cultivating Justice in a Changing Climate: An Environmental Justice Indicator Storytelling Zine with Coalition of Communities of Color and Multnomah County.
