Plant Trees with Learning Landscapes at Columbia Regional Services

Volunteers needed to plant trees with students at Columbia Regional Services.
8:30 am to 11:30 am

Urban Forestry is working with Columbia Regional Services to plant trees on their grounds. We are looking for adult volunteers* to help plant the trees!

Work will include:

  • Setting out tools
  • Watching a demonstration on how to properly plant a tree
  • Leading elementary students in the tree planting process
  • Helping students dig their hole, lift their tree, and talking them through the steps for tree planting.
  • Staking trees
  • Cleaning up tools

Details:

  • Each volunteer will be planting 2 trees with 2 different groups of students.
  • We will work rain or shine, so be sure to dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes.
  • Snacks and water will be provided to volunteers. Please bring a reusable water bottle.
  • Urban Forestry will have gloves and all the tools needed.

*This event is only for adults. Volunteers working this event need to have a background check on file with Portland Parks & Recreation. If you aren't sure if you have a background check on file or need to fill out the form, please contact Elena at elena.amaya@portlandoregon.gov.
