Trees of NE Portland: A Shady History

Label: Community event
The Columbia Slough Watershed Council, Urban Forestry, and Friends of Trees are hosting a springtime tree walk at Alberta Park! Come travel through time and observe the impact of race-discriminatory historical zoning practices in NE Portland.
5:30 pm 7:30 pm

Join Columbia Slough Watershed Council, Friends of Trees, and Urban Forestry for a free educational urban tree walk this spring! Local leaders and tree experts Brittany Gadbury (Urban Forestry), Ryan Gilpin (Nidus Consulting), and Thomas Meinzen (Friends of Trees) will facilitate conversations about the trees between NE Ainsworth Street and NE Alberta Street. The trees here tell stories about the past that can be seen and felt today, inviting us to examine our urban canopy and racism in Portland. Join us for a dynamic, outdoor conversation bouncing from tree to tree, story to story, street to street. This event is free and open to all ages.
