Doing Business with Urban Forestry

Information
This page contains key information about doing business with us. Our program focuses on building strong partnerships with contractors, and we welcome businesses of all types. Explore upcoming opportunities and find out how to take the next steps toward becoming a partner.

Contractor Development Program

Our work expands Portland's tree canopy and supports those who maintain it. We believe strong partnerships lead to a healthy urban forest. We welcome businesses of all sizes, especially those from underrepresented communities. Whether you're just starting or have years of experience, there are ways to join our projects. Working with us helps make Portland greener and our neighborhoods healthier.

  • Opportunities: The city offers different types of contracts. These are open to both small local businesses and larger companies.
  • Open to all: We welcome businesses of all kinds, including those certified through the Certification Office for Business Inclusion and Diversity (COBID). Our goal is to remove barriers and create opportunities for everyone to take part and succeed.
  • Help to Grow: We offer tools, trainings, and support to help your business grow and succeed.
  • Focused on Fairness: We partner with the Portland Clean Energy Fund (PCEF) to support sustainability. Programs like the Equitable Tree Canopy Program create more chances for contractors to take part. These include work in tree planting and care projects.

Explore the links below for more about PCEF-funded projects and resources:

Focus Area

Where We Work: Urban Forestry works in several important parts of the city. These are the main program where contractors play an important role.

  • Free Street Trees: These are trees planted along streets in public spaces. Planting focuses on areas that need more trees. After planting, City contractors' water, weed, and care for the trees for three years.
  • Learning Landscapes: This program turns school grounds into green spaces. It gives students a chance to learn through tree planting. Contractors help by planting more trees and making sure they grow well.
  • Private Property Trees: These trees are planted on private property to help grow the city's overall tree canopy.

Meet Our Contractors

Urban Forestry's projects succeed thanks to the hard work of our contractors and community groups. These partners help us plant, care for, and grow Portland's tree canopy. They bring knowledge and commitment to every project.

The list of contractors below is for informational purposes only. The city does not guarantee the work of these contractors, so be sure to check references and find the best fit for your project.
