Acer campestre - hedge maple
  • Native of greater Europe and western Asia.

  • Although it can grow to be nearly 100’ tall, it more often is a relatively small, bushy tree.

  • Leaves are 3-5 lobed and lobes are blunt.

  • Seed wings have a spread of 180°.

  • Fall color is usually a bright yellow.

  • Tree used for hedgerows (hence the name) in Europe.

  • Not common in Portland. The two Heritage Trees are probably the largest in the city.
