- Native throughout the West, often at lower elevations
- Can reach 250' in height, the largest of the Abies
- Needles are .5-2.3" long, flat, in two rows, dark green above, silvery-white beneath
- Cones are 2-4" long, cylindrical, upright
- Foliage has a strong aroma when crushed
