SE Mill Court Sidewalk Infill

Transportation
Completed
Crews will build new sidewalk in front of two properties on SE Mill Court. In partnership with Portland Parks & Recreation, the new sidewalk will improve access to Mill Park Elementary and the Mill Park Project renovation.
A Google streetview screenshot showing existing conditions of SE Mill Ct prior to construction. A street with cars parked along the curb sits next to a grassy yard with a mail box and some dirt patches. A paved driveway butts up to the grass.

Project Background and Description

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) identified this segment of SE Mill Court as an important connection for students and families attending Mill Park Elementary in the David Douglas School District. Members of the school community here highlighted the challenges walking and biking this corridor during a 2017 Safe Routes to School outreach process.

You can read more about the planning process and see a map of citywide project locations and routes on this webpage.

After years of planning and community input, Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) began construction on the Mill Park Project in August of 2023. PP&R staff partnered with Safe Routes to School to coordinate construction of the sidewalk gap on SE Mill Court. PBOT's Safe Routes to School program would pay for the sidewalk infill on this key route to Mill Park Elementary, and PP&R's contractor would complete the construction.

The planned project elements are:

  • Install concrete sidewalk in front of two properties on SE Mill Court, between Mill Park and SE 122nd Avenue.
An aerial view of the project area, showing the two properties along SE Mill Ct with a rectangle added where the new sidewalk will be. The new sidewalk connects to Mill Park's new entrance, and Mill Park Elementary's parking lot.

Project Funding

This project is funded by General Fund dollars allocated to the Safe Routes to School program for use on traffic safety projects in East Portland.

The map below shows the location of this SE Mill Court sidewalk infill project. PBOT understands that this map is not accessible for users of assistive technology. Due to the complexity of the information the map provides and the currently available map platforms at the city, it will take some time to make adjustments.  We thank you for your patience while we work on a technology-based solution. As we work toward providing accessibility, please contact email address and/or program name phone number to reach PBOT staff who can assist you to get the data you need from the map. You can also contact PBOT’s ADA Coordinator at Lisa.Strader@portlandoregon.gov or at 503-823-5703.

Again, thank you for your understanding and patience.
