What's Happening Now?

This project is currently under construction.

Project Description

This segment of SE Bush Street was identified as an important connection for students and families attending Earl Boyles Elementary School and Ron Russell Middle School in the David Douglas School District. Walking routes and challenging connections were highlighted by school communities during a Safe Routes to School outreach process held throughout 2017.

You can read more about the planning process and see a map of citywide project locations on this page.

Here are the planned project elements:

1. Build new sidewalk on the north side of SE Bush St to connect gaps. Planned segments are shown with yellow bars in the graphic below. They include:

  • Between SE 105th and the unnamed road across from the Earl Boyles driveway

2. Update or build new ADA corner curb ramps or mid-block ramps to improve pedestrian access. Locations include:

  • SE Bush at 103rd: 1 mid-block ramp
  • SE Bush at 104th: 1 corner ramp
  • SE Bush at 107th: 2 corner ramps
  • SE Bush at Earl Boyles frontage: 1 mid-block ramp
  • SE Bush at 112th: 2 corner ramps
Orange dots show corner ramp upgrades, yellow lines show sidewalk infill locations.

Project Funding

The Fixing Our Streets 10-cent citywide gas tax was approved by voters in May 2016 and again in May 2020. Safe Routes to School was allocated funding by Fixing Our Streets for school access improvements across Portland.
