PBOT will be making crossing improvements along SE Holgate Boulevard at SE 108th Place and SE 117th Street, and building sidewalk infill along the south side of SE Holgate Boulevard from SE 103rd Street- SE 122nd Street.

As part of a large signals package, PBOT and the Safe Routes to School program have designated five locations where contractors will build new pedestrian traffic signals and beacons. The five intersections are located on key school walking routes across Portland.

Safe Routes to School Intersection Improvements: Multiple Locations

NE Shaver Sidewalk: NE 102nd to NE 115th avenues

Construction crews will build sidewalk and new ADA curb ramps on the south side of NE Shaver Street to connect this key school route for Parkrose Middle and High School students.

SE 174th Ave Sidewalk (Kelly to Francis streets)

Construction crews will build sidewalk on the west side of SE 174th Avenue to connect neighborhood streets to Powell Butte Elementary School. New crossings will be marked at SE Haig Dr, SE Marie St., and in front of Powell Butte Elementary.

SE Cooper Street and SE 62nd Avenue Safe Routes to School Project

Construction to be complete by summer 2026
This project will fill the existing sidewalk gap on the north side of SE Cooper Street, pave SE Cooper Street from SE 62nd Avenue to existing pavement, install a new sedimentation-sump maintenance hole, and install 3 new curb ramps.

SE 14th and Bybee Crossing

Final elements to be completed in December 2025
Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) will rebuild the southeast corner ADA ramp of SE 14th Avenue and Bybee Boulevard, realign the northbound travel lanes on SE 13th Avenue, and daylight parking to improve the crossing experience for people walking and biking.
