Go By Greenways is now over. The grand prize drawing was October 17. Look for us next year in another Portland neighborhood!
What is "Go By Greenways?"
Go By Greenways is a scavenger hunt you can play while exploring new neighborhood greenways in East Portland, two of them running north-south along the 130s and 150s blocks, and new sidewalk and bike lanes on SE 136th Ave. This area is home to green spaces, parks, and schools, and Powell Butte Nature Park.
Play the game anytime between August 26th to October 17th and you’ll be entered into weekly prize drawings and of course, the grand prizes at the end.

How to explore your new neighborhood greenways
An entire network of Neighborhood Greenways is available for you to use to arrive to this area and for your everyday trips. You can view the network at the Greenway webpage or in our online bike map. Here are the newest projects you can see while looking for zebras:
The 150s Neighborhood Greenway runs north and south between SE Powell Blvd and NE Halsey St, connecting 3.7 miles of low traffic streets and multi-use paths. As part of the construction, PBOT paved SE Morrison St between SE 154th and 155th avenues to provide a more direct connection for people traveling on the greenway.
About 150s Neighborhood Greenway
The 130s Neighborhood Greenway runs north and south along numbered avenues near the 130s in East Portland. The route makes its way along 128th, 129th, 130th, and 131st avenues at various legs along this journey. Despite the jog between streets, the 130s Neighborhood Greenway provides an easy, continuous way to bike or walk from the I-84 path to SE Foster Road, providing a calmer route than biking along bustling 122nd Avenue. It links to TriMet bus lines on NE Glisan Street, SE Division Street, SE Powell Boulevard, and the MAX line on E Burnside Street. It connects people easily to David Douglas High School, as well as North Powellhurst, Lincoln Park, and Gilbert Heights elementary schools. And it provides an easy route to green space at John Luby, East Holladay, Lincoln City, and Gilbert Heights parks.
First Look: 130s Neighborhood Greenway
The SE 136th Ave Sidewalk and Paving to Opportunity project recently repaved SE 136th Avenue between SE Division Street and SE Foster Road and improved access for Powell Butte Nature Park, Gilbert Hydro Park, Gilbert Primary Park, Leach Botanical Garden, Zenger Farms, Lincoln City Park, Lincoln Park Elementary School, Gilbert Heights City Park, Kingsley D. Bundy Park, and Gilbert Heights Elementary School.
SE 136th is served by TriMet bus lines 17 and 10. New improvements to street crossings will help everyone access the bus more safely.
Some components of the project include:
- 1.8 miles of street repaving
- 1.8 miles of continuous sidewalk on the west side of the street to support Safe Routes to School
- 3.6 miles of new protected bike lanes (1.8 miles in each direction)
- 48 new or upgraded ADA curb ramps to ensure people walking and rolling have convenient access to sidewalks

Take our survey
Neighborhood greenways are much more than a street. From PBOT's years of experience building them, we've seen the many ways community members make them their own by painting intersections, having a block party, or hosting other community events.
