What is Get There Brentwood Darlington

Get There Brentwood Darlington is a PBOT campaign to raise awareness about the recently completed walking, biking, and transit improvements in the neighborhood and encourage local residents to use the new infrastructure in their daily lives. PBOT recently completed construction on the Brentwood Darlington Multimodal Improvements project which added sidewalks, neighborhood greenways, and crossing improvements throughout the neighborhood. Now PBOT wants to help neighbors discover the new, improved, and safer ways to get around the neighborhood.

From April until July, Get There Brentwood Darlington will feature events that highlight ways to get around the neighborhood by walking, biking, or transit. Partners like Oregon Walks and AARP are organizing walks and individuals are hosting bike rides as part of Pedalpalooza. Anyone is welcome to host their own event.

Host your own event

Do you want to host an event as part of the campaign? Do you like walking and biking in the neighborhood and are open to inviting neighbors along? You can be a host! Anyone is welcome to host their own event and can email Rob Hemphill to learn more and have your event added to the calendar.

Why is PBOT doing this?

We know trying new things is hard, so PBOT is trying to make it as easy and fun as possible to choose to switch to biking, walking, and riding TriMet. When PBOT finishes an infrastructure project, we want to achieve the full benefits of the project by offering a "campaign" that helps community members discover and use the recently completed infrastructure. This activation, Get There Brentwood Darlington, is a campaign designed around PBOT's goals to reduce Vehicle Miles Traveled and boost walking, biking, and riding transit. For Get There Brentwood Darlington, PBOT is trying a strategy we're calling a Transportation Potluck; PBOT is hosting, sending out invites, and providing parts of the meal, but inviting partners and neighbors to participate in their own way. Transportation behavior research shows that pairing events and trip logging with incentives is a best practice in this work. It helps residents try new modes and take trips in new ways that they might otherwise do by driving. We hope you can join us!
