Are you new to town, or new to cycling in Portland? Join the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) for an autumn bike ride exploring Southeast Portland! This ride is free and open to everyone.

New to Portland ride: Southeast

Are you new to town, or new to cycling in Portland? Join our New to Portland ride on Tuesday, October 7! We will explore ways to get around by bicycle in Southeast Portland and check out some new bike paths and low-traffic streets. We'll also learn about the history of local neighbors' efforts to improve the community, check out some public art, see where the bike shops are, and end at a place to try some delicious taste sensations and socialize.  Whether you know how special Portland is or want to learn more, this ride is for you!

This is a easy-pace (8-10 mph), no drop ride, and will be approximately 8 miles long. The ride is a loop, and we will follow the rules of the road. BRING LIGHTS -sunset is at 6:41 pm.

This event is free and open to everyone.

When: Tuesday, October 7

5:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Gather, get some free bike swag and maps! We will also have a BIKETOWN staff member there to assist folks who would like to sign up for BIKETOWN for All.

6:00 p.m. Ride starts promptly

Where: Ride starts and ends at Lents Park, SE Steele St at 89th Ave

Need a bike?

Are you bike-curious or don't have a bike you can use? There are still options for you to participate in the ride:

  • Consider renting a bike or purchasing a bike from one of Portland's bike shops.
  • Consider riding with BIKETOWN—Portland's easy, affordable, and super-fun way to get around. Just hop on one of their e-bikes and be on your way. Check the BIKETOWN map for station locations around town.

Free BIKETOWN codes!

We have some free BIKETOWN codes (credit to pay for ride time) available specifically for this ride! To receive a BIKETOWN code, email Timo Forsberg at timo.forsberg@portlandoregon.gov

We also have adaptive bikes available for people with disabilities. Email us to reserve one ahead of time!
