I have been a practicing internist for the past 25 years and have loved doing what I feel is my calling in life. I enjoy caring for patients from diverse backgrounds and have the privilege of serving the LGBQT+ communities.

How I thrive “When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.” —Rumi. Travel, movies, reading, film festivals, opera, hiking with my chihuahua, and cycling are food for my soul.

Having grown up in a household with immigrant parents I embrace community values and respect for all cultures. My family has also added to my personal development. My daughters have given me courage and faith to try new things and through their talents have fostered my enjoyment of dance and music. I have found many wonderful ways to feed my soul, but what I truly enjoy is being part of the fabric of the everyday lives of people. I have cried, laughed, and prayed with my patients. Our time together is profound and meaningful. I leave the room feeling joy that I had a connection.

Why join SW Strolls?

The City of Portland is completing the SW Capitol Highway infrastructure project. The project is a joint venture between the Bureau of Environmental Services, Portland Water Bureau, and Portland Bureau of Transportation with improved stormwater, drinking water, and street infrastructure. The finished product with include repaved vehicle lanes and brand new sidewalks, bike lanes, and multi-use path. Residents will now have new options for safely getting around their neighborhood and getting between Multnomah Village and the Crossroads area.

SW Strolls will not only highlight this new infrastructure but also highlight existing urban trails maintained in a partnership between PBOT and SW Trails. SW Trails is a community group that promotes walking in biking in SW Portland and leads monthly walks and trail maintenance work parties. There are seven urban trails identified, marked, and maintained by SW Trails. These trails often have hidden gems of beauty and discovery, or just a respite from the bustle of the city. Trail #7 runs adjacent to SW Capitol Highway and demonstrates multiple ways residents can get around their neighborhood.
