Request a new streetlight

Service
Request new streetlights from the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT). Our Signals and Street Lighting team processes requests and puts them on a waitlist. As funding becomes available, these are prioritized based on numerous factors. PBOT doesn't have adequate funding to approve all requests.

This application takes 10-15 minutes to complete. An engineer's assessment could take several months.

Gather your information

Be prepared to provide us with your contact information and a detailed description of where you would like a streetlight, such as the nearest address or cross street. Tell us why it's important to you.

Fill out a streetlight request form, send us an email, or call us

PBOT places all streetlight requests on a waitlist until an engineer can evaluate the area and make a determination based on several factors. If the engineer finds an installation is unwarranted or not feasible, you may contact your power company about installing a privately funded light, or install private outdoor lighting on your property.
