The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is engaging Portlanders to plan how to move goods through the city while meeting our goals for a safe multimodal system that supports economic prosperity, human and environmental health, equity, and resilience.

In July 2021, Portland City Council adopted this plan. It ensures transportation infrastructure and PBOT programs are ADA compliant. This page includes our annual reports, links to request accessibility infrastructure, and other information about fully including community members with disabilities.

A critical north-south connection and one of Portland’s high-crash corridors, 82nd Avenue is in urgent need of significant investment to improve safety and address maintenance issues. As of June 2022, the state transferred ownership of 82nd Avenue to the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT).

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) has developed a comprehensive plan to improve safety along 122nd Avenue, and has several funded projects to address the plan recommendations. Learn more below.

The Portland Bureau of Transportation's (PBOT) Green Loop Concept Plan is a planning project focused on advancing the design and implementation for the Green Loop - a six-mile linear park and multiuse path connecting the Central City.

Exploring future streetcar to Montgomery Park in NW and Hollywood Town Center in NE Portland, and jobs and housing opportunities along the way. Work on the NW area resulted in a Montgomery Park Area Plan (MPAP), which was adopted by City Council on Dec. 11, 2024 and becomes effective June 1, 2025.

The North Portland in Motion plan identifies transportation needs and near-term investments to improve access to community destinations and support walking, biking, and transit use in the North Portland peninsula.

The plan was adopted unanimously by Portland City Council on December 4, 2024.

The Portland Bureau of Transportation's (PBOT) Northwest in Motion Plan represents over two years of analysis, community outreach, and problem-solving to improve walking, biking, and public transit in the Northwest District and surrounding area.

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) worked with staff, public, and current and former of members of three modal committees (bicycle, freight, pedestrian) to understand what is and isn't working, explore tradeoffs and benefits, and alternatives for meaningful community engagement.

The Bureau of Planning and Sustainability and Portland Bureau of Transportation are working with community members to develop transportation and land use plans in South Portland, featuring a Naito Main Street Plan. This planning project is on indefinite hiatus pending transportation funding.

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is currently working to implement Southwest in Motion plan recommendations to improve walking and biking in Southwest Portland.

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is developing a permanent program for public street plazas. Plazas bring vibrancy to city streets, returning space to pedestrians and offering areas for outdoor seating, events, and community activities open to all.

In 2023, Portland was awarded a U.S. Department of Transportation SMART grant to pilot a Zero Emission Delivery Zone and digital infrastructure tools. This PBOT project tests ways to create a safer, cleaner, more equitable transportation system while boosting economic opportunities.
