Section 2: Community Engagement

Label: Information

Key Takeaways

  • Overall, the big idea of the Green Loop still resonates with many Portlanders, particularly more planting, trees, and a physically-separated space to walk, roll, and bike
  • People have concerns and questions about implementation – when it's built, how it's funded, how it will be maintained, how it will be kept an activated and safe space
  • People want a world-class, distinctly designed Green Loop but also want feasible and less expensive projects that can be implemented quickly

Engagement Approach

The project team gathered feedback about the Green Loop objectives and design principles, priorities and tradeoffs, route, and potential impact to real estate markets in the Central City. Key touchpoints included:

  • Online survey with 1,837 responses
  • Tabling at four different community events near the alignment
  • Walking tours with the project Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and Community Sounding Board (CSB)
  • Interviews with large property owners along the alignment
PBOT staff tabled at the Downtown Sunday Parkways in September 2025 to better understand how the public felt about the Green Loop
