Construction updates

Overview: September 30 – October 10
In the next two weeks, contractors with PBOT will have several active work zones along NE/SE 82nd Avenue. One lane in each direction on 82nd Avenue will remain open during construction. People traveling on NE/SE 82nd Avenue can expect delays, especially during the morning and evening commutes. Please travel safely around work zones and pay attention to all flaggers, detour signs, and traffic control devices.

Details and traffic impacts:

  • NE Fremont - Signal equipment installation will require the signal to be shut down and the intersection flagged.
  • NE Siskiyou – Underground electrical work will require lane closures.
  • NE Hancock – Underground storm and corner ramp work will require lane closures.
  • NE Russell to Thompson – Median island construction will begin at Thompson, working north. Work will require daytime lane closures and turn restrictions.
  • NE Eugene  – Corner ramp work will require lane closures.
  • NE Tillamook – Utility work will require a side street closure of NE Tillamook west of 82nd Avenue from Monday, Sept. 29 through Friday, Oct. 10. during weekdays, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Vehicle traffic will be detoured to NE Thompson. Sidewalks will remain open for pedestrians and bicyclists.
  • SE Washington  – Sidewalk construction on the south side of the street from 80th to 82nd avenues will require a lane closure of the bus and bike lane.
  • SE Woodward – Civil and underground work will continue to require lane closures, turn restrictions, and traffic delays near SE Woodward. For convenience, drivers traveling to/from Fubonn Shopping Center are encouraged to use the alternative entrance on 85th Avenue. This entrance can be accessed via SE Brooklyn Street. Additional details below.
  • SE 85th Avenue – Sidewalk work on 85th Avenue will begin north of Powell and will continue north, requiring parking restrictions and lane closures. 85th Avenue from Powell to Clinton streets is closed to traffic with the exception of local access.
  • SE Brooklyn to Powell – Sidewalk work will require lane closures.
  • SE Mitchell to Insley – Underground work will require a lane closure on 82nd Avenue.
  • SE Ramona – Civil and underground work will require lane closures on 82nd Avenue.

Paving on SE 82nd Avenue through mid-October

Travelers and residents are encouraged to use alternate routes, take transit, walk or roll, and avoid driving through the area if possible

The Portland Bureau of Transportation's (PBOT) safety and maintenance upgrade of 82nd Avenue continues, with extensive repairs on SE 82nd Avenue between SE Clinton and Brooklyn streets. These repairs will provide new, smooth pavement and replace failing sections of roadway. The work is expected to have significant traffic impacts. This phase of work is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 6 and is expected to be completed Saturday, October 18. This work is weather dependent, and the schedule may shift.

Raimore Construction will work from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with one nighttime shift 10 p.m. on Friday, October 17 to 7 a.m. Saturday, October 18.

During this period of construction, one lane of traffic on SE 82nd Avenue will be open in each direction.

82nd Avenue is Open for Business During Construction!

82nd Avenue is home to hundreds of locally-owned and culturally diverse businesses. We invite you to show 82nd Avenue businesses some love during and after construction.

Fubonn Shopping Center is an International Marketplace anchored by a supermarket with products from over 60 countries. The center is also home to four dine in restaurants, a Filipino bakery, bubble Tea as well as a Starbucks. The rest of the mall is filled with locally owned retail businesses and services catering to the everyday needs of the community.

In the coming weeks, construction will be active at SE 82nd and Woodward, adjacent to Fubonn Shopping Center. For convenience, consider using the alternative business access driveway via 85th Avenue to get to Fubonn Shopping Center.
