Construction updates
This week PBOT flipped the switch on the signalized pedestrian crossing at NE 82nd Avenue at NE Klickitat Street! This signal gives pedestrians a safer place to cross one of Portland’s most dangerous streets. This crossing improvement was funded by the American Rescue Plan act as a part of PBOT's 82nd Avenue Crossings Project.
Overview: August 4 - 15
In the next two weeks, contractors with PBOT will have several active work zones along NE/SE 82nd Avenue with lane closures and night work. One lane in each direction on 82nd Avenue will remain open during construction. People traveling on NE/SE 82nd Avenue can expect delays, especially during the morning and evening commutes. Please travel safely around work zones and pay attention to all flaggers, detour signs, and traffic control devices. Pedestrian routing will be in place around work zones.
Details and traffic impacts:
- NE Beech to Fremont – Possible landscaping work within the concrete median island will require lane closures.
- NE Siskiyou to Russell – Possible concrete island construction will require lane closures.
- NE Russell to Schuyler – ADA ramp construction, underground storm work, and existing concrete island demolition at Russell will require lane closures.
- SE Harrison to Division – Paving of SE 82nd Avenue between SE Harrison and Clinton is underway. One lane in each direction on SE 82nd Avenue will remain open during paving.
- SE Division (see more details below) - Intersection paving requires left turn restrictions for drivers traveling north and south on SE 82nd Avenue. Significant travel delays are anticipated Monday – Thursdays. Nighttime work will take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on two Fridays, August 8 and 15.
- SE Clinton to Brooklyn – Underground work and ADA corner ramp construction will require lane closures.
- SE Brooklyn to Powell – Underground work and ADA corner ramp construction will require lane closures.
- SE Kelly – ADA corner ramp work, driveway work at Winco will require lane closures.
