PBOT crews monitor the signal operations during the signal turn on at SE 82nd Avenue and SE Knapp Street.
New pedestrian and bicycle crossing complete at 82nd Avenue at Knapp Street
This week PBOT crews “flipped the switch” on the new signal at SE 82nd Avenue and Knapp Street. This is the final element of the Brentwood-Darlington Multimodal Improvements project, which also filled sidewalk gaps on SE Duke and Flavel streets and created a new neighborhood greenway on SE Knapp and Ogden streets. These improvements will provide safer and more comfortable access for people walking and biking to schools and parks including Woodmere Elementary, Whitman Elementary, Lane Middle School, Brentwood Park and Flavel Park.
This signal is a part of PBOT’s Building a Better 82nd program and is the first of many new signalized crossings and traffic signals coming to the corridor.
This project is made possible thanks to funding from Metro’s Regional Flexible Funding Allocation and the American Rescue Plan Act.

Contractors with PBOT dig a hole in preparation to install a sump at SE TaggartStreet and 82nd Avenue. This infrastructure will improve drainage and reduce standing water on the street. Installation of sumps and sedimentation maintenance holes continue in the coming weeks in multiple locations along NE/SE 82nd Avenue and on side streets.
