The 2040 Portland Freight Plan (2040Freight) is about planning how to move goods through the city while meeting our goals for a safe multimodal system that supports economic prosperity, human and environmental health, equity, and resilience. 2040Freight will develop strategies to support freight movement in ways that advance Vision Zero and a state of good repair for our asset management in anticipation of population growth and technological changes. And the plan will aim to reduce carbon emissions while advancing equity and addressing structural racism by engaging stakeholders and the public in examining relevant issues of environmental justice.
This is a series of every-other-month Community Advisory Committee meetings for the 2040 Portland Freight Plan. These meetings are open to the public to attend in observation and an opportunity for public comment is usually available prior to the end of each meeting. These meetings are closed captioned and recorded. Agendas, meeting recordings, and additional materials are available on the project website at 2040Freight.com
This is a special meeting and it will be in two parts, each an hour long. Part I will use this link for our standard Zoom “webinar” format and include public comment, updates about the plan, and a presentation about what’s been accomplished on the city’s freight system in the last fifteen years. After committee questions and feedback, we will go to our five-minute break at 5PM. During that time, committee members and members of the public will need to join us using this other link for Part II of the meeting. This link will put everyone (CAC members and attendees) all together into a Zoom “meeting” format so that we can do breakout groups for an interactive brainstorming activity to help shape 2040Freight vision, goals and objectives. Members of the public will be able to engage directly. For this activity, each breakout group will have their own Jamboard page to put up virtual sticky notes with their ideas.
Please let staff know if we can help you by providing any accommodations. Closed captioning will be available in both parts of the meeting.
