There are many construction projects coming to 122nd Avenue soon. as a part of the Building a Safer 122nd Ave effort. Click below to read more about specific projects that are about to go to construction for the timelines and details.
- New Street Lighting
- Dark conditions are a factor in many crashes, especially along 122nd Avenue. Adding more street lighting to help everyone see and be seen will help make 122nd Avenue safer.
- New School Beacon @ Parkrose High School
- A new school beacon, indicating when drivers must drive below 20 mph, will be installed at NE Shaver St and 122nd Ave. The two new beacons will be installed in the winter of 2024/2025.
- Paving and intersection redesigns at 122nd and NE Halsey St.
- 122nd Avenue from NE Broadway to NE Glisan street is getting repaved in summer 2025. The intersection at 122nd and NE Halsey St will be redesigned to be safer for people walking and biking. Stay tuned for updates and an open house on this soon.
- New Signalized Crossings
- A high crash corridor, NE 122nd Avenue currently has long distances between safe pedestrian crossings. PBOT has received funding from Metro through the RFFA program to add six new enhanced crossings. Locations were selected based on public feedback and staff analysis from PBOT's comprehensive 122nd Avenue corridor plan and include crossings at or near:
- NE Beech Street
- NE Russell Street (upgrade)
- NE Broadway Street
- NE Multnomah Street
- NE Davis St
- SE Clinton St
