Community Engagement

Between 2018-2023 PBOT staff engaged with community members about their concerns and priorities for the future of 122nd Avenue.

Congressman Earl Blumenauer, Commissioner Mingus Mapps, and PBOT staff discuss improvements for 122nd Avenue next to a yellow High Crash Intersection sign.

The survey for the 122nd Avenue Plan asked the community what their priorities were for 122nd.

This image shows the results to the survey question, what are your top 3 priority improvements to include in the 122nd plan? The results from highest to lowest priority improvement includes more street lighting, pedestrian and bike enhanced crossings, protected or enhanced bike lanes, transit priority treatments, manage speeding and red light running, relocated utility poles to meet Americans Disability Act, bus stop improvements, access management, signal changes, pursue speed limit reduction.

During summer and fall 2024, PBOT attended community events and meetings such as the Division-Midway Alliance Transportation Fair, and Russell Neighborhood Association concert in the Park, neighborhood association meetings and block parties, here are the concerns and comments we heard:

  1. Speeding - people drive too fast
  2. Afraid of getting hit while walking across 122nd Avenue
  3. Illegal, unsafe behavior (running red lights, crossing anywhere, etc.)

All of this feedback was considered during project development and design as will the results of the survey here!
