7:00-7:30 – 148th Ave Safety & Transit Access Project (30 min)
Kathryn Doherty-Chapman (PBOT)
Between NE Glisan and SE Powell on 148th, PBOT will be adding eight new pedestrian crossings to improve pedestrian, bicycle, and transit access along the corridor. Improvements will also prepare the street for the new TriMet bus service and improve access to the MAX station at SE 148th Avenue and E Burnside Street. By providing more points for all road users to cross the street it also makes the corridor safer. New crossings are planned at: NE Couch, Midblock between E Burnside and SE Stark, SE Alder, SE Taylor, SE Market, SE Lincoln, SE Grant, and SE Clinton.
As PBOT staff get into design, there are opportunities to adjust the crossing locations and provide comments on the overall project design. PBOT planner Kathryn Doherty-Chapman will present on the project background, goals, what we have heard from the public to date and will share draft concepts to comment on. Construction is expected in 2028 or 2029. Learn more online at 148th Avenue Safety & Transit Access Project (NE Halsey St to SE Powell Blvd) | Portland.gov
