Halsey Safety and Access to Transit Project: June 2026 Project Update

Label: News article
Published

(6/5/26) We're happy to share an update on the NE Halsey and 81st Ave mini-roundabout. Earlier this week, our contractor installed the new roadway striping - the final step before opening. Now, the traffic control team is preparing the site to open. We expect the mini-roundabout to open for travel next week, once all safety checks are complete. Westbound travel on NE Halsey will also reopen at that time.

Here are some key activities completed at the roundabout during May:

  • Power company energized the new poles
  • Electrical subcontractor completed streetlight work
  • Prepared ground surface for paving
  • Paving subcontractor paved the north half of the roundabout
  • Concrete subcontractor formed and poured ADA ramps and traffic islands

Thank you for your patience while we completed this work.
