Construction updates

Overview: June 22–July 3

Over the next two weeks, PBOT contractors will have several active work zones along NE/SE 82nd Avenue. One lane in each direction will remain open during construction. Travelers on NE/SE 82nd Avenue should expect delays, especially during the morning and evening commutes. Please travel safely through work zones and follow all flaggers, detour signs, and traffic control devices.

Details and traffic impacts

  • NE Prescott to NE Fremont – Signal communications work at various locations will require lane closures.
  • NE Thompson to Hancock – Paving on NE Tillamook and Hancock streets will require traffic detours for side streets. Paving on NE 82nd Avenue will be complete on June 19, and 82nd Avenue lanes will reopen to traffic. The following detours will remain in place for eastbound and westbound traffic through Friday, July 3:
    • Drivers will be detoured to NE Thompson Street.
    • Bicyclists will be detoured to NE Siskiyou Street.
    • Pedestrians will be able to cross 82nd Avenue at NE Thompson or NE Siskiyou streets.
  • SE Raymond to Foster – Contractors are finishing up varius civil, electrical, and roadway repair work in advance of paving in July. Work will require lane closures and turn restrictions at some locations. Paving begins at SE Schiller Monday, July 13 (see more details below).
  • SE Ramona to Tolman – Center median island construction at Tolman will require lane closures and turning restrictions on SE 82nd Avenue.

In addition to the above, contractors will complete punch list items throughout NE/SE 82nd Avenue. Remaining punch list items will require intermittent lane closures on 82nd Avenue.

As a part of the 82nd Avenue Major Maintenance project, contractors with PBOT continue to pave segments of NE/SE 82nd Avenue. Beginning Monday, July 13, contractors will begin paving SE 82nd Avenue between SE Schiller Street and SE Foster Road. Paving activity will complete in August.

One lane in each direction on 82nd Avenue will remain open during construction. People traveling on SE 82nd Avenue can expect delays, especially during the morning and evening commutes.
