(July 23, 2025) This week, the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) and our construction contractor Interlaken, Inc. begin work on the NE Halsey Street Safety and Access to Transit project. Over the next year we'll improve pedestrian crossings, add new sidewalks, upgrade curb ramps, create bike lanes, and install other safety and accessibility upgrades for people walking, biking, riding transit, and driving along NE Halsey Street between NE 69th and 92nd avenues.
Summer 2025 construction schedule
Mid-July to Mid-August 2025
North side of NE Halsey between 84th and 91st Avenues
- Traffic: Temporary lane reductions but minimal impact to vehicle traffic.
- TriMet Bus stops:
- Westbound NE Halsey at 88th Avenue stop will be closed through late August.
- Westbound NE Halsey at 86th stop will move from NE corner of intersection to NW corner of intersection.
- On-street parking: No on-street parking on north side of NE Halsey. Some south side on-street parking maintained.
- Scope of work:
- Installation of tree protection fencing and erosion control - Week of July 22
- Tree removal/tree trimming - Week of July 28 and Week of August 4
- Demolition/digging to prepare for new curbs, drivewalks, sidewalks and trees - Week of August 11
