NE Columbia Blvd. will fully reopen to traffic next week as the first phase of construction wraps up on the NE 46th & Bryant Local Improvement District (LID).

With the intersection at NE 42nd Ave. now rebuilt in concrete, contractors are focusing on remaining tasks, including final striping, landscaping, and paving restoration.

After next week, there will continue to be periodic traffic control to complete portions of the remaining work, including activation of the new signal at 42nd Ave. Most work should be completed by end of May.

Please travel carefully in the construction area and observe all signs and flaggers.

We expect to start construction of Phase 2 in Spring 2026. This work will have minimal impact on NE Columbia Blvd. traffic.

New signal at 42nd Avenue to be activated soon

We expect to turn on the new traffic signal on NE Columbia Blvd. at 42nd Ave. by the end of May. This work may slip into June due to a conflict with overhead utilities.

Workers attempted to install the final signal mast arm on April 23rd, but discovered that utilities did not relocate overhead lines to the height requested by PBOT. As a result, the overhead lines are blocking installation of the new signal equipment.

We are working closely with relevant utilities to address this issue and are expecting a fix this week. Signal activation will not impact our ability to fully reopen NE Columbia Blvd. to traffic next week.
