The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) will begin overhauling the intersection of N Rosa Parks Way & Greeley Avenue next week.
We will be replacing the traffic signal and making a number of other safety, operational, and accessibility improvements.
The intersection will remain open to all modes of travel. Travelers should expect delays and occasional flagging over the course of the one-year project. We will maintain access to neighboring businesses.
Nearby TriMet stops will be temporarily closed and a Biketown station will be relocated during construction. Please refer to TriMet.org and the Biketown app for service impacts.
Please sign up for occasional email updates to stay informed about the project and traffic impacts.
More Than Just New Equipment
In addition to replacing traffic signal equipment, the project will make safety and operational improvements that include:
- Crosswalk on the west leg of the intersection will help people cross N Rosa Parks Way.
- Dedicated left-turn lane from southbound N Greeley Avenue to eastbound Rosa Parks Way will help more people get through the intersection.
- Curb ramps will be rebuilt to meet modern accessibility standards.
- Protected left-turn signals from N Rosa Parks Way to Greeley Avenue will help prevent collisions between left-turning drivers and people in crosswalks.
- Driveway closure on the northeast corner will reduce conflicts people between driving and people using the sidewalk or transit stops.
New fiber communications will also allow for advanced signal coordination along N Greeley Avenue. This will especially benefit transit riders via near-term implementation of next-generation transit signal priority, which helps buses move faster and more reliably through congested areas.
Thank you for your patience as we work to rebuild and improve this intersection.
